Privacy Policy and Children’s Privacy Notice

1. Who we are
Luo Learn is run by Narrabee LLC, 30 N Gould St, Sheridan, WY 82801. We are the only operator collecting or keeping personal information through Luo Learn. For anything about privacy, including your child’s information, write to hello@luolearn.com or call (657) 231-8436.
Luo Learn is a tutoring service for children from Kindergarten to Grade 9. Children use it; only a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over can make an account.
2. Children's privacy notice
We follow the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Apart from the one free two minutes described below, we collect personal information from a child only after their parent has given verifiable consent, and only what is needed for the lesson. A child never has to give more information than that to take part.
What we collect from your child
- Their voice, during lessons. Luo is a voice tutor: the audio of your child speaking is streamed as it happens to our AI providers so it can be understood and answered. We do not record or store it.
- What they say, type and draw in a lesson. A written transcript and the whiteboard are kept on your device, not on our servers, to write the lesson recap. The conversation is also sent to our AI providers during the lesson to teach it.
- How lessons go. Which lessons were started and finished, how long they lasted and the quiz score, linked to a random identifier for your device, so we can show progress and keep Luo Learn working well.
Luo does not ask children for their surname, address, email, phone number, photos or location, and steers the conversation back to the lesson if a child offers them.
What you tell us about your child
During set-up you give us your child’s first name and how to say it, their interests, school grade and curriculum, and your goals for them. We use these to shape their lessons.
How we use it
Only to run your child’s lessons, personalise them, show you their progress, and keep Luo Learn secure and working. We never sell children’s information, never show advertising, never build profiles for advertising, and do not use it to train AI models.
Who helps us run Luo Learn
We share children’s information only with service providers who process it for us to run Luo Learn, and for no other purpose:
- AI service providers, which power Luo’s voice, understand and answer what your child says, plan lessons and draw pictures.
- Hosting and database providers, which run Luo Learn and store accounts and child profiles.
- An analytics provider, which counts visits and page views with a random identifier for the browser, and is never used for advertising.
Each is bound to use the information only to provide its service to us. We do not disclose children’s information to anyone else, except where the law requires it. Our payment processor handles payments and receives only the parent’s details.
The free two minutes
Anyone can try the first two minutes of one lesson before making an account. During those two minutes your child’s voice is streamed to our AI providers so Luo can answer, exactly as in any lesson; we do not record or store it. To make sure each family gets one free preview, we keep your device’s random identifier and a scrambled (one-way hashed) form of your network address for 30 days. We do not keep anything else from those two minutes on our servers.
How we get your consent
To keep going after the free two minutes, you make an account, read a notice about what Luo collects and give your consent. You can see or withdraw it at any time from your account. Paying for a plan with a card confirms you are the parent. Until consent is in place, Luo will not go beyond the free two minutes.
Your rights as a parent
At any time you can:
- see the information we hold about your child;
- have it deleted;
- withdraw your consent, which stops Luo collecting anything more from your child and deletes what we hold.
Do this yourself from Your child’s privacy in your account, or write to hello@luolearn.com. We check requests come from the parent by asking you to be signed in, or by writing back to your account’s email.
3. How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as we need it for the reason we collected it:
- Your child’s voice: not kept by us. Our AI providers may hold it briefly (up to 30 days) under their business terms to detect abuse, then delete it.
- Lesson transcripts and the whiteboard: on your device only, until you clear them or your browser’s data.
- Your child’s profile (name, interests, grade, goals): while your account is in use. Deleted 12 months after your account was last used unless you have a plan running, and within 30 days of you asking or withdrawing consent. A profile set up without an account is deleted after 30 days.
- Lesson and usage records: 13 months.
- The record of a free preview (a device identifier and a hashed network address): 30 days.
- Your account: until you close it. An account whose email is never confirmed is deleted after 30 days.
- Payment records: kept by our payment processor for as long as the law requires.
Deletion runs automatically every night.
4. Information about parents
Your email address and password (stored securely by our sign-in provider), when you agreed to our terms and gave consent, and your subscription. If you sign in with Google, we get your name, email address and profile picture from your Google account instead of a password. Our payment processor handles card details; we never see your full card number. We email you about your account and, if you choose, about Luo Learn.
5. Your device and our website
Luo Learn stores your sign-in, your child’s profile and their lesson progress in your browser so lessons work and pick up where they left off.
To measure our advertising to parents, an advertising partner’s tag runs on the pages parents use (the home, pricing, sign-up and sign-in pages, our terms and this notice) and at the moment a parent creates an account, starts checkout or pays. It sets its own cookie and sees your device’s IP address and browser, and it is told which of those steps happened and, for a payment, the amount. It never runs on the lesson screens children use, and nothing about your child is shared with it.
To see how Luo Learn is used and keep it working well, we use an analytics service that counts visits and the pages viewed. It sets its own cookie with a random identifier for your browser, and sees your device’s IP address. Its advertising features are switched off, and nothing it collects is used for advertising or to build a profile of you or your child.
To show the page, your browser fetches it, and its fonts, from the providers that deliver our website, which see your device’s IP address as part of doing so.
6. Keeping information safe
Information is encrypted in transit, and children’s information on our servers can be read only by Luo Learn’s own server code and the few people who run it. We keep a written security programme, review it every year, and would tell you promptly if your child’s information were ever exposed.
7. Changes to this notice
If we change how we collect, use or share children’s information, we will tell you by email first, and we will ask for your consent again before any new use.
